Automotive Engineering Department
The Automotive Engineering Department of APQ develops and implements integrated manufacturing solutions for the automotive industry, supporting customers throughout the complete lifecycle of production projects—from concept development and process planning to manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
With more than two decades of experience, the department has built extensive expertise in Body-in-White (BIW) assembly, complemented by advanced capabilities in material handling, robotic automation, industrial controls, and production tooling. By integrating mechanical design, manufacturing technologies, automation, and process know-how, APQ delivers reliable and efficient production environments tailored to the technical and operational objectives of each project.
Our capabilities include:
- BIW process planning, line balancing, station layout development, and cycle-time optimization
- Design and manufacture of welding fixtures, assembly jigs, checking fixtures, gauges, and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT)
- Integration of resistance spot welding, MIG/MAG welding, laser welding, structural adhesive dispensing, clinching, riveting, and hybrid joining technologies
- Development of automated material handling solutions, including conveyor systems, skid systems, lift-and-carry units, transfer mechanisms, and robotic handling equipment
- Hemming solutions for automotive closures using tabletop, roller, and press hemming technologies
- Robotic integration, offline programming (OLP), simulation, and virtual process validation
- Industrial automation, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, functional safety, and industrial communication networks
- Quality assurance through dimensional control planning, inline measurement, fixture calibration, process validation, and error-proofing (Poka-Yoke)
Our EPC capabilities encompass detailed design, equipment manufacturing, installation, system integration, commissioning, production validation, and technical support throughout production ramp-up and process optimization.
